Southwest Kidney Institute

Project Description:

This project included a custom CorTen steel pergola, awnings, and complementary architectural accents for the Southwest Kidney Institute, designed by SmithGroup. We fabricated each element to create a cohesive system that ties the building exterior together and strengthens the overall site design.

The CorTen steel develops a warm, weathered finish that complements the desert environment. In addition, the material provides natural shade and helps create privacy across key exterior areas. We designed the pergola and awnings to work together, so they improve both function and visual continuity throughout the site.

As a result, the installation blends durability with a refined desert-modern aesthetic. It enhances the building’s exterior while also integrating with the surrounding landscape in a deliberate, unified way.
