Tempe City Hall – SES Fence
Project Description:
This custom SES fence was fabricated for Tempe City Hall and designed by DWL Architects. We built the system using CorTen steel and an organic, tree-limb–inspired pattern rendered through a halftone, negative-space design.
The perforated imagery introduces depth, transparency, and visual movement across the weathered steel surface. In addition, the material develops a natural patina that enhances the sense of texture over time. We designed the fence to provide both security and durability while maintaining a strong architectural presence.
As a result, the installation functions as more than a perimeter barrier. It blends natural forms with a contemporary aesthetic and complements both the surrounding landscape and the civic architecture of Tempe City Hall.
