Mesaflora
Project description:
Mesaflora is a large-scale sculpture at Mesa’s Country Club Road station on the Metro–Central Mesa Light Rail Extension, created in 2015 for the Phoenix Metro Light Rail. Measuring roughly 30′ x 10′ x 24′ and made from laminated glass, stainless steel, and painted mild steel, it was developed in response to Mesa’s “New Growth / Old Roots” theme. The piece evokes an oversized botanical form at the heart of the station, marking the western gateway into downtown Mesa and using the image of a bloom to symbolize both physical growth and the city’s ongoing evolution.
