Impulsion
Project description:
This large-scale metal horse sculpture was commissioned by the City of Scottsdale, and we developed it from an original maquette into a full-scale public artwork. First, we carefully scaled the design upward to preserve proportion, detail, and visual impact at a monumental size.
We fabricated the entire sculpture from brushed stainless steel 1.5″ × 1.5″ square tubing. Additionally, our team precision-cut each component and assembled them to form a clean, structural framework that maintains the gesture and movement of the original model.
Because of its scale, we engineered the sculpture in two vertical halves to ensure safe transport to the jobsite. Once we delivered the sections, we reassembled them on site and secured the structure to achieve perfect alignment, stability, and long-term durability.
At night, integrated lighting transforms the piece. Specifically, alternating illumination washes across the stainless steel surface and highlights its contours and edges as light moves across the form. As a result, the sculpture creates a strong sense of motion, giving the horse a dynamic, almost living presence within the public space.
Ultimately, the final installation blends precision fabrication with artistic expression. Therefore, the finished sculpture stands as a landmark piece that engages viewers both day and night.
