Tempe Fire dept – Station #2
Project description:
This custom metal sculpture was created for Station #2 of the Tempe Fire Department as a tribute to fallen firefighter Tommy Arriaga. We fabricated the piece by scaling up a maquette created by artist Kevin Barry, translating the original model into a full-scale sculptural form.
We formed the sculpture from flat sheet metal, then roll-formed and riveted it within the outer shell to establish its structure. Before finishing, we fully assembled and test-fit the entire piece to confirm alignment, proportions, and fit. After verification, we carefully disassembled it for powder coating to ensure a consistent, durable finish across all components.
As a result, the final installation delivers both structural precision and long-term durability while honoring its memorial purpose.
