Papago Bridges
Project Description:
As part of a multi-use development along the Grand Canal in Tempe, AZ, a formerly utilitarian irrigation canal was transformed into a public recreational amenity. A new pedestrian path spans the canal at five points, inviting visitors to pause and enjoy the views. For this project, we fabricated several custom stainless steel railings that act as functional art, enhancing each bridge with textured steel and integrated LED lighting. The railings’ three-dimensional zigzag patterns create dynamic sculptural effects, casting intricate shadows in the daylight and sparkling beautifully at night, adding both safety and visual interest to the canal crossings.
