Overview

Arizona Science Center – Phoenix, Az

Located in the heart of downtown Phoenix, the Arizona Science Center is a popular destination for people of all ages. Teaming with artist Mary Lucking, Magnum created a custom three-piece telescope and microscope art feature. Made entirely of formed and welded aluminum the pieces stand at a combined height of over one hundred feet. This complex and state of the art design incorporates a floor mounted viewing telescope that plays a continuous movie. Unbeknownst to the viewer, aiming right back at them within the telescope is a small camera capturing the movement of their eye and dilation of the pupil. This footage is then broadcast to Magnum’s feature telescope that hangs from the ceiling with a 40” LCD Television displaying the viewer’s eye. A truly remarkable design that draws attention from everyone that passes through the science center’s lobby.
